We’re going to take a break from the norm here to drop down to the Swansea Under-23’s as we hit the weekend and the first team players are given a well-deserved rest from training before we go again for the remaining two games of the season.
The Under-23 side is managed by Cameron Toshack and features several players that have received first team minutes such as Mael Davies, Cian Harries and Courtney Baker-Richardson.
They’ve been pretty shoddy in the league, sitting in a relegation place in English U23 Premier Division 1, but have come alive in the U23 Premier Division Cup.
I have been wavering over a decision to sack Toshack because he’s failing so much in the league but thankfully for him, he is currently being saved by his cup exploits. The U23’s haven’t tasted defeat yet in nine cup games including at home to Everton and away at Newcastle United.
The final is played on Monday 30th April and will be at the Landore Training Ground, which is ours. I’m assuming the top-ranked team get to play at home.
The big question is, do I stack the odds in our favour by sending down some of our top players? Or do I respect the contribution to this point of the Under 23 players who have got us to this point?
Renato Sanches and Tammy Abraham both qualify for the Under 23’s due to their age so they can feature, we also can play three outfield players over 23 and one goalkeeper in the match squad can be over the age of 23.
It’s time for the first vote of the Letou Choose era. Here are four players, select your favourite and whichever two receives the most votes can be eligible for selection. I’ll put forward Wayne Routledge, who has been unlucky with injuries all season, Mike van der Hoorn as a reward for his rich vein of form, Luciano Narsingh who is on the fringes of the first team and Leroy Fer, who I just can’t find a starting place for. @CharlieTangoFM needs your help once again as part of #LetouChoose in association with @LetouSports. The Swansea City U23 team have made it to the Premier Division U23 Cup Final, which members of the first team squad should get the chance to play in the final?
