In the 70th minute, Sam Finley scored, to reduce the score for Bristol Rovers. Bristol Rovers were unable to score any more goals. The 4-1 goal was the last goal of the game.

Bristol Rovers have had a poor start and have only three points from their first four games. Exeter claimed their first win.

The last match between the teams ended in a 3-1 home win for Bristol Rovers in April 2016.

In the next games in the England League Two, Exeter will take on Harrogate Town (away) on 2021-08-28, Forest Green (home) on 2021-09-04 and Scunthorpe (away) on 2021-09-11. Bristol Rovers play Barrow (away) on 2021-08-28, Crawley Town (home) on 2021-09-04 and Hartlepool (away) on 2021-09-11.
