The home side Watford took control of the game against Aston Villa and had a 2-0 lead. The third period saw Villa coming closer but the Premier League game finished with a 3-2 win for Watford.
Watford started the match well and took the lead early when Emmanuel Dennis scored after 10 minutes, making it 0-1.
The team increased the lead to 2-0 just before the half-time whistle as Ismaila Sarr scored, with an assist by Emmanuel Dennis.
In the 67th minute, Cucho Hernandez scored, from a pass from Tom Cleverley, to increase the lead for Watford.
Aston Villa’s John McGinn also scored in the 70th minute as he scored, with an assist by Leon Bailey.
Aston Villa pulled one back again in the 90th minute of the game as Danny Ings scored. But the team ran out of steam, what brought the final score to 3-2.
In the next round, on Saturday at 5:30 pm, Watford will face Brighton away at The Amex, while Villa will play on the same day at home to Newcastle at 3pm.
