Football Manager 2020 is released next month and fans of the game will be excited to get their hands on the new edition where all the clubs will be up-to-date with latest squads from around the world.
If signing young, talented players is your best transfer policy, here are three names you should look to have on your shopping list – they could be stars of the future.
Erling Braut Haaland (Red Bull Salzburg)

Young Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haaland has been one of the stars of the Champions League so far this season. The striker has scored 18 goals in 11 appearances for his club Red Bull Salzburg in all competitions. His performance at Anfield against Liverpool in his side’s 4-3 defeat stood out and is sure to be enough to persuade some of the leading clubs in Europe to make a move for youngster in January or the summer transfer window. Once you start your new season (and if you have a big enough transfer budget to sign Haaland) make it a priority as once he starts scoring goals for Salsburg on the game, his transfer fee is going to rocket. Haaland can go straight into your starting XI regardless of which club you begin with and given his age, he could lead your line for a number of years.
Donyell Malen (PSV Eindhoven)
PSV striker Donyell Malen is the joint-leading goalscorer in the Europa League this season where his side have UEFA Europa League odds of 8/1 which could look generous if the young Dutchman keeps scoring at the rate he is going at. This is Malen’s third season with PSV and it is already his best tally for a campaign as he has bagged 16 goals in 18 games in all competitions. The 20-year-old has been linked with Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Madrid but for now he is like to remain with his Eredivisie club which could be a good move as he is playing plenty of football, something which can only help his development. His transfer value is unlikely to be huge at the start of the season so you may be able to get a real bargain here with the striker.
Luke Matheson (Rochdale)

If you are prepared to scout players in the lower leagues of domestic football, the reward can be huge when you find a gem. Rochdale’s Luke Matheson is a player you should look to scout at the very least. The full-back made his debut for Rochdale when he was just 15-years-old. He is now a regular for the League One club and even scored for them against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Matheson features for the England under-18s and Newcastle are one of the clubs which are closely monitoring him. Matheson could be a great signing if you are in charge of a Championship club in England as he is likely to be able to make that step up in leagues immediately.
Enjoy the new game when it arrives and make sure to keep your scouts busy for young players, a strategy which will pay off in the long run.
